The Tortoise vs the Hare at BCS

Missoula Week at Belgrade Central school kicked off on Monday, March 2nd with auditions taking place directly after school for students in first through fifth grade. The audition consisted of singing, dancing, laughing, and fun. Shortly before 5 p.m. the students raced out to share which part they had been assigned. The Tortoise Versus the Hare was coming together. Some students stayed until 7 p.m. that evening to rehearse for their role.

This continued every night throughout the week, with most students rehearsing from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m., with only a short 15 minute break to eat dinner. Everyone was looking great by the time dress rehearsal rolled around on Friday afternoon. Excitement and energy radiated through the group as they gathered in their costumes.

The students of Belgrade Central School put on two spectacular showings of The Tortoise Versus the Hare on Saturday, March 7th at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. Both shows were packed with friends, family, and classmates who left feeling simply amazed.

Missoula actor, Calli McCartan phrased it perfectly, “If these children can put together a full hour-long play with lines, singing and dancing in less than a week, just imagine what they can do with the rest of their lives!”
