BCS Students Meet Maine Author Jennifer Jacobson
Thanks to the generous support of the Belgrade Central School Stevens Fund, an author visit for grades Pk-2 and 3-5 is possible every year. This November we were happy to host Maine Author Jennifer Jacobson.
Jennifer’s Andy Shane series is a well-loved favorite for our younger students, but we were treated to presentations on her novels for middle-grade readers with our 3rd, 4th and 5th graders. Jennifer Jacobson’s brilliant novel Small as an Elephant was read aloud to all classes by Librarian Rita Daniels and made for rich discussions and meaningful interactions on the day of the visit.
Before leaving for the day, Jennifer remarked that she was extremely impressed with our BCS students and could tell they were readers and writers. She said that as she presented, she tweaked her routine as she discovered they were up to the challenge. It was a fantastic day for students and staff as well as our visiting author. We look forward to our PK-2 author visit with Sarah L. Thomson in April.
